The TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test) is a standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native speakers. It is used by universities and other institutions to assess the English language skills of students who are applying for admission.
It is the most widely accepted English language proficiency test in the world. It is accepted by over 10,000 universities and other institutions in over 150 countries. This means that if you are planning to study or work in an English-speaking country, the TOEFL iBT test is a good way to demonstrate your English language proficiency.
The Reading section of the TOEFL iBT test assesses your ability to understand academic texts in English. You will be asked to read a variety of texts, such as essays, articles, and passages from textbooks. You will then be asked questions about the texts, such as identifying main ideas, understanding details, and making inferences.
The Listening section of the TOEFL iBT test assesses your ability to understand spoken English in an academic setting. You will be asked to listen to a variety of lectures, conversations, and discussions. You will then be asked questions about the recordings, such as identifying main ideas, understanding details, and following instructions.
The Speaking section of the TOEFL iBT test assesses your ability to communicate effectively in spoken English. You will be asked to complete a variety of speaking tasks, such as providing summaries of academic texts, describing charts and graphs, and giving opinions on topics.
The Writing section of the TOEFL iBT test assesses your ability to write effectively in English. You will be asked to complete two writing tasks, a short response and an essay. In the short response task, you will be asked to write a brief response to a prompt. In the essay task, you will be asked to write an essay about a topic related to your academic studies.
The Reading and Listening sections are always taken first, followed by a 10-minute break. The Speaking and Writing sections are then taken consecutively.
