Canada has removed 3,323 Indian nationals in the first six months of 2026, making Indians the largest nationality group among people removed from the country during this period.
The latest figures from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) show that the number is already almost 88% of the 3,779 Indian nationals removed during the whole of 2025.
For Indian students and other people planning to move to Canada, the numbers are an important reminder that following immigration and visa conditions is becoming increasingly important.
Indians Top Canada’s Removal List
Between January and June 2026, Canada removed:
- 3,323 Indian nationals
- 1,573 Mexican nationals
- 431 Haitian nationals
- 372 US nationals
- 354 Colombian nationals
India therefore recorded more than twice the number of removals recorded for Mexico during the same six-month period.
This is also a major change from recent years. Indian removals increased from 603 in 2021 to 786 in 2022, 1,132 in 2023, 2,004 in 2024 and 3,779 in 2025.
7,669 Indian Nationals Have Removal Cases in Progress
The number of completed removals is not the only figure attracting attention.
As of June 30, 2026, 7,669 Indian nationals were listed in Canada’s “removal in progress” inventory. This was the highest figure among all nationalities.
This does not mean that all these people will necessarily be deported immediately. It means their removal cases are currently in progress and may involve different stages of the Canadian immigration enforcement process.
Why Are People Being Removed From Canada?
People can face removal from Canada for different immigration-related reasons. These can include:
- Staying in Canada after their visa or legal status expires
