There is an important update for students planning to study abroad. The IELTS exam fee in India will be increased from April 1, 2026. The current fee of ₹18,000 will rise to ₹19,000, marking an increase of ₹1,000.
📢 Official Update
Starting 1 April 2026, the IELTS exam fee will increase:
- Current Fee (till 31 March 2026): ₹18,000
- New Fee (from 1 April 2026): ₹19,000
- Increase Amount: ₹1,000
This fee hike applies to both:
- IELTS Academic
- IELTS General Training
This change will apply to both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training tests. Students who are planning to take the exam later this year or next year should take note of this update while planning their applications.
Experts suggest that students can avoid paying the higher fee by booking their IELTS test before March 31, 2026. Even if the test date is scheduled later, booking in advance allows candidates to lock in the current price.
With the rising costs of studying abroad, including tuition fees and living expenses, even a small increase like this can impact overall budgeting. Early planning and timely booking can help students save money and stay ahead in their preparation.
Students are advised to plan their IELTS exam dates wisely and begin their preparation early to avoid last-minute pressure and additional costs.
