Curtin University is an Australian public research university based in Bentley, Perth, Western Australia. It is named after John Curtin, Prime Minister of Australia from 1941 to 1945, and is the largest university in Western Australia, with 57,784 students in 2019.
Curtin University vice-chancellor Harlene Hayne said the McGowan Government’s announcement of a pathway to re-open by late January or early February — if the 90 percent double vaccination target is reached — gave WA a clear way forward to the long-awaited return of visitors, including international students.
Professor Hayne said international students were vital for WA’s post-pandemic economic recovery.
“This is a critical step in ensuring the vibrancy of our multi-cultural university campuses,” she said.
“This announcement also sends an important message to all our current and potential offshore students that they will again be able to study … and enjoy the full and rich Curtin experience from semester 1, 2022.”
