The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Sample Report
The diagram displays the production of instant noodles.
Overall, it is an automated process that consists of six main stages: mixing raw materials, producing dough strips, making noodle discs, cooking, drying, and packaging.
First of all, flour kept in storage silos is transported to a manufacturing center by truck. There, it is combined with water and oil in a mixer to create dough. The dough then passes through several rollers which knead it until it becomes dough sheets that have a consistent texture and the perfect thickness for instant noodles. Next, the sheets are cut by slitters into dough strips, which are subsequently placed in moulds to form noodle discs.
The discs then go through the cooking process in which they are fried in oil. Once fried, they are cooled and dried before being put into cups along with packets of vegetables and spices. Finally, the cups are labeled and sealed.
In some cultures, children are often told that they can achieve anything if they try hard enough.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving children this message?
How Many Advantages and Disadvantages Should I Write?
Sample Essay Band 7
The world comprises many cultures and norms. In some cultures, teenagers are often taught that they can accomplish anything they wish for, provided that they try hard. This message serves well as an inspiration for young children, yet it could have a negative impact on them as well.
To embark on, some countries, especially in underdeveloped countries, usually teach their children to stay humble and be realistic rather than dreaming of something that is impossible; and that is the reason why such countries cannot develop further. Lack of dreams, ambitions, or inspirations are detrimental to any society. People should be encouraged to dream big and aim high. To illustrate, imagine if some adults told Neil Armstrong that he should be realistic rather than telling him to dream big and try hard; there would be no men on the moon. Hence, the message that people can accomplish anything if they are trying hard is one of the essential factors of successful countries.
On the other hand, this trend brings about drawbacks as well. Despite this message can motivate and inspire a lot of kids, telling it to the wrong group of people may result in negative effects; for instance, telling kids who are blind due to car accident that they could see the world again if they are trying hard. In other words, something is really not possible, giving unrealistic hope rather than helping cope with the truth is irresponsible. Thus, in some cases, it is better to teach children to be realistic rather than giving them inspiration.
To conclude, a motivating statement like this message is a key to success in every society, yet it may cause negative impacts if it is told to a particular group of children. Therefore, it is important to convey these kinds of messages to the right audience.

The chart below shows what Anthropology graduates from one university did after finishing their undergraduate degree course. The table shows the salaries of the anthropologists in work after five years.

Sample Report
The pie chart displays what one university’s graduating Anthropology students went on to do after completing their undergraduate degree, while the table illustrates how much the anthropologists who found jobs earned after 5 years.
Overall, the majority of the graduates had full-time jobs. In addition, while a significant proportion of the freelance consultants and government employees earned at least $75,000, only roughly half of the private sector employees did.
Just over half of the graduates went on to work full-time, compared with only 15 percent working part-time and 12 percent unemployed. Those who did full-time postgraduate study and those who did postgraduate study while working part-time each only made up a small minority of the graduates, at 8 and 5 percent respectively.
Moving on to their salaries, 80 percent of the freelance consultants earned at least $75,000, half of whom were in the highest salary range of more than $100,000. Although there were also 80 percent of the government employees making no less than $75,000, a relatively high proportion of the government employees, at 50 percent, earned at least $100,000. In comparison, only 55 percent of those working for private companies made a minimum of $75,000. The proportions of the freelance consultants and government employees who were in the lowest salary bracket of $25,000 to $49,999 both stood at only 5 percent, versus 10 percent for those employed in the private sector.
Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Sample Essay Band 7
It is irrefutable fact that commercial is an important aspects of one’s personality. While some people argue that advertisement help us to make our mind to buy a showing item, others argue that this mode of displaying product is an ordinary ways, hence nowadays individuals are not following them. I tend to agree with the first part and in this essay, will support my opinion with examples.
First and foremost, numerous people think that it is better if people know about the product before they buy, and displaying stuff encourage them to buy. Some people can never buy the updated things without getting actual features and purpose of a particular thing. As a result, they found that advert is the best method which they can follow easily.
For instance, I bought my apple phone after watching the presentation of this phone at my home screen.
On the other hand, some people think that in this tech era, the old way of passing messages to the consumer is too old now. This generation most of them are well educated and with their own knowledge, they can make their decision by themselves. Hence, they feel like an advertisement are not an excellent source of convincing people. For example, My younger brother, he is in Canada, and he told me he buys all his stuff from his own without watching anything on adds.
In conclusion, In my view, I strongly agree that advert are the best and with the help of them people can get the information about the product, at any time and any where, and it also help them they get ready to buy the product.

The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Sample Report
The bar graph displays the data collected in a survey about the coffee and tea buying and drinking habits of residents in five cities in Australia in the last four weeks.
Overall, in all the cities except Adelaide, more people went to a cafe for coffee or tea than bought instant or fresh coffee. In Adelaide, going to a cafe and buying instant coffee were almost equally common.
Most residents in Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney, and Brisbane visited a cafe for coffee or tea, at approximately 64, 63, 62, and 55 percent respectively, whereas just under half of the residents in Adelaide did so. These five cities also had roughly half of the residents purchasing instant coffee, and the figures in Hobart and Brisbane were almost 55 percent.
In comparison, the proportion of people who bought fresh coffee was never as high as 45 percent in any of the five cities, with those in Brisbane and Adelaide, both at nearly 35 percent, less likely than those in the other three cities to do so.
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people.
Why might this be the case?
Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Sample Essay
In the future, all vehicles will be autonomous. Passengers will be the only people inside them. I believe businesses can cut costs by using driverless cars, and this advantage far outweighs any potential disadvantages.
One downside of self-driving cars is that they would lead to large employment losses. Nowadays, in many countries, a great number of people are making a living by driving, be they truckers, bus drivers, or delivery couriers. Imagine all these people are made redundant by autonomous cars. That would raise the unemployment rates in these countries significantly. However, I think this can be avoided if drivers can reskill to get themselves a job in a new sector.
On the positive side, driverless cars can help businesses reduce operating expenses. This is because, with these cars, they would not need to hire drivers to deliver their products or services to their customers anymore. For example, the American logistics company UPS currently has hundreds of thousands of truck drivers and pays them an average of 60,000 dollars per year, which adds up to tens of billions of dollars annually. Replacing these drivers with autonomous cars would mean that these huge salary payments could be eliminated. I think this would create a major advantage for companies because the money saved on labor could be devoted to improving other aspects of their businesses.
In conclusion, although self-driving vehicles would result in many job losses, I believe this downside is greatly outweighed by the upside that these vehicles could help businesses save operating costs.

The graph below shows the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.

Sample Report
The line graph displays how many tourists visited a certain Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.
Overall, the island’s total visitor count rose steadily almost every year over the 7 years. Starting in 2016, more visitors stayed on cruise ships than on the island; before that, the reverse was true.
The total number of arrivals on the island went up gradually from 1 million in 2010 to roughly 2.75 million in 2015. It then stayed at this level in 2016 until it rocketed to 3.5 million in 2017.
The volume of visitors who stayed on the island stood at about 0.75 million in 2010 and 2011. It then increased consistently before reaching a plateau of 1.5 million which lasted from 2013 to 2017 except for a small dip in 2016.
There were far fewer tourists staying on cruise ships in 2010, at only around 0.25 million. After some fluctuations over the following 2 years, the number started climbing steadily, overtaking the number of those staying on the island in 2016 and reaching 2 million in 2017.
In their advertising, businesses nowadays usually emphasise that their products are new in some way. Why is this? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
Sample Essay
In their advertising, businesses today often promote the idea that there is something new in their products. I believe they do this because it can help them beat their competitors. This should be seen as a positive development because new features are there to respond to consumers’ new needs.
By advertising something new they have created, brands can increase their chances of staying ahead of their competitors. No matter what product a company sells, there are always hundreds, if not thousands, of similar ones on the market that consumers can choose from. If the company does not inform consumers through its marketing that the product is innovative in some way, it will just be one of the many out there, rather than one that is different and grabs consumers’ attention. For example, in an iPhone commercial, Apple effectively delivers the message that the latest version of iOS allows users to disable cross-app tracking. This new feature which no other smartphone has can definitely help Apple attract new buyers since nowadays people are becoming more and more concerned about their online privacy.
I think this is a positive development because consumers have new requirements that need new products to satisfy them. For example, with all the digital devices at their fingertips, people nowadays want to limit their screen time more than they did a decade ago. Noticing this change, Amazon has launched a screenless fitness band called the Amazon Halo. This screenless feature is something existing fitness trackers such as Apple Watches and Fitbits cannot offer.
In conclusion, emphasizing the newness of their products in advertising is an effective way for brands to stand out from the competition. This is a positive development because new features can meet customers’ new needs.
