The Graduate Record Examination

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test commonly used for admissions into graduate programs and business schools in the United States and many other countries. It is created and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Worldwide acceptance of GRE exam

The GRE is accepted by graduate schools in more than 160 countries around the world. Here are some of the top countries that accept the GRE: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and France

The GRE is also accepted by many business schools and law schools around the world.

The average GRE score required for admission to graduate school varies depending on the program and the school. However, most schools require a minimum or a good score of 300. Some schools may have higher requirements, especially for competitive programs.

Many graduate programs and business schools use GRE scores as part of their admissions criteria, along with other factors such as undergraduate GPA, letters of recommendation, and personal statements. It is  essential to check the specific requirements of the programs to which you are applying to determine whether they require GRE scores and, if so, what score ranges they are looking for. Preparing for the GRE typically involves studying, taking practice tests and possibly enrolling in test prep courses to improve your performance.

More About GRE

The GRE is a multiple-choice, computer-based exam that measures your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing skills. The test is divided into three sections:

  • Verbal Reasoning: This section measures your ability to understand and analyze written material. It includes questions on vocabulary, grammar and reading comprehension.
  • Quantitative Reasoning: This section measures your ability to solve math problems. It includes questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
  • Analytical Writing: This section measures your ability to think critically and communicate effectively. It includes two tasks: an Issue Task and an Argument Task.

The GRE is scored on a scale of 130 to 170, with 160 being the good score. Most graduate schools require a minimum and a good GRE score of 160 each. Analytical writing  with an an excellent score  ranges from 4.5 to 5.5 out of 6.

The GRE is administered in a computer-adaptive format, which means that the difficulty of the questions you are asked depends on how well you answer the previous questions. This means that you will not be able to skip or review questions.
