As per the notification of IRCC from August 10 2023, International IELTS Students do not require six bands in individual for SDS Canada Visa Process. The SDS program is available for students applying for a study permit at a designated learning institution in Canada. This is a big announcement for Indian students to apply for SDS visas for the upcoming Canada Session.
From August 10, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test-takers applying through the Student Direct Stream category for Canadian study permit will not need to attain a minimum score of 6.0 bands in all individual sections of the test.
The specific IELTS requirements for the SDS program may vary depending on the level of study (undergraduate or postgraduate) and the program of study. However, generally, applicants are required to achieve a minimum overall band score of 6.0 or higher on the IELTS test. Additionally, applicants are usually required to obtain a minimum score of 6.0 or 6.5 in each language skill (listening, reading, writing, and speaking).
With the recent changes made by the IRCC, we are delighted by the decision that IELTS Academic test takers applying through the SDS programme will now require only an overall six band score.
It’s important to note that the requirements may change over time, and it’s always advisable to check the official website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or consult with a qualified immigration consultant for the most up-to-date information regarding language requirements for the SDS program or any other immigration program.
